Gwyneth Paltrow has an Iron workout

Gwyneth Paltrow was physically prepared for her Iron Man 3 action

Gwyneth Paltrow owes her abs of steel to an Iron workout it seems, as she revealed she was completely unfazed by her action scenes in Iron Man 3.

The 40-year-old actress plays Pepper Potts in the action blockbuster and confessed she didn't have to do any extra training for the movie, as her workout regime is so strict already.

Asked if she upped her workout for the film, Gwyneth admitted: "The real answer to that is no because I work out all the time and my trainer is really strict with me and I'm very disciplined about it. I was prepared."

The Oscar-winning actress enjoyed her character being involved in the action in the latest film.

She said: "Each one of the movies has been great in its own way. This one was really fun because I felt like Pepper really progresses. She really steps into her power this time.

"She's incredibly strong at work, you see her really as an equal partner with Tony [Stark aka Iron Man] and the relationship and then she gets involved in all sorts of action so this one was the most fun in terms of where she is in her life."

Gwyneth also admitted working with co-star Robert Downey Jr was an extra challenge, because he likes to improvise the banter between their characters.

She said: "We're always sort of improvising and changing things a little bit, Robert definitely keeps you on your toes that's for sure."

:: Iron Man 3 opens in cinemas on April 25.
