Gwyneth Paltrow's guitar struggle
Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed she practised guitar until she wept and her fingers bled for her new film Country Song.
The 38-year-old Oscar winning actress was determined to perform the final scene in her new film herself, despite having to suffer for her art.
Gwyneth told People magazine: "[Faking it] is just not my style. I was going into such another world, and I wanted it to be as authentic as possible.
"I played all the time, and my hands were bleeding and cramping. It sucked. I cried, like, five times at various points over the four months. It's really f**ing hard. It's much harder than it looks."
Despite being married to guitar-playing Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, Gwyneth was taught how to play by British session guitarist Mark Jaimes.
She said of Chris: "Like he has time to be my guitar teacher. I think he's doing OK with his day job. I'm not sure he's going to take up guitar teaching. But he was encouraging.
"I had never played guitar, ever, ever."
Mark revealed: "She didn't even know how to hold a guitar."
Despite her recent performance at the Country Music Awards, Gwyneth has no grand plans for her new-found skill.
She said: "I'm not going to make a guitar-band album or anything like that. But it's useful for kids' birthdays."
