Hall joins Depp in Transcendence

Rebecca Hall is to appear with Johnny Depp in Transcendence

Rebecca Hall is set to star in Wally Pfister's directorial debut Transcendence.

The Vicky Cristina Barcelona actress will appear opposite Johnny Depp and Paul Bettany in the sci-fi movie, reported Collider.

Rooney Mara and Emily Blunt were previously linked to the role, although details about the character are being kept under wraps.

Johnny is tipped to portray a man who uploads his brain to a super computer.

The film, which has been written by Jack Pagien, marks the first time that Wally, Christopher Nolan's Oscar-winning long-time cinematographer on the Batman trilogy and Memento, sits in the director's chair.

Chris and his wife Emma Thomas are executive producers on the movie, which is scheduled to begin production in Los Angeles in April for a 2014 release.

Rebecca, who starred in Ben Affleck's The Town and Lay The Favourite, will next be seen in Iron Man 3.
