Hammer heads to desert for Mine

Armie Hammer is to star in psychological thriller Mine.

The Lone Ranger star will play a soldier, who is forced to call on all his skills to survive in the desert after a botched assassination mission, reported Variety.

As well as holding his own against the exposure to the elements, the 27-year-old's character will have to build the strength to deal with the psychological toll of his situation.

The Conjuring producer Peter Safran will take on producing duties for Mine, with Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro writing the screenplay and directing together.

Armie will also be an executive producer on the film, which is scheduled to start filming in the autumn.

The American actor, who played John Reid/The Lone Ranger in the Disney film alongside Johnny Depp as his sidekick Tonto, will next star in Guy Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E. alongside Henry Cavill and Hugh Grant.
