Tom Hanks has apparently been offered the opportunity to star in political thriller Patriot Down.
The Larry Crowne actor is said to be being courted to take on the leading role of a US President who has to go on the run after Air Force One gets shot down over Afghanistan, reported Variety.
The film, which is being backed by Paramount, has been written by Ian Stone - Steven Spielberg's second assistant director on War Of The Worlds, Munich, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and The Adventures Of Tintin - and is set to be produced by Kevin Walsh and Brad Weston.
Tom's next big screen outing is Stephen Daldry's Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close alongside Sandra Bullock and Viola Davis.
