Hardy, Bigelow for True American
Tom Hardy is set to join forces with Kathryn Bigelow on post-9/11 drama True American.
The Locke actor is attached to star, with the Oscar-winning filmmaker on board to direct the big-screen adaptation of Anand Giridharadas' book, True American: Murder And Mercy In Texas, reported Variety.
The film would tell the true story of Raisuddin Bhuiyan, a Bangladesh Air Force officer who has to fight for his life after being shot by a vengeful and avowed "American terrorist" in the Dallas supermarket where he worked, days after 9/11.
Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures acquired the rights to the book, published by WW Norton and Company.
Tom, who will next be seen in crime dramas The Drop and Child 44 alongside Noomi Rapace, is also set to star as Sir Elton John in the biopic Rocket Man.
Meanwhile, True American would mark Kathryn's third consecutive war film, following 2009's The Hurt Locker and 2012's Zero Dark Thirty.
