Tom Hardy has reportedly lined up yet another starring movie role.

The 35-year-old British actor - who is currently in demand in Hollywood - will play an American soldier in upcoming epic The Outsider, reported Deadline.

The film, which will mark the English-language debut of Japanese director Takashi Miike, is set in post-World War II Japan and chronicles the life of the former soldier who becomes part of the Japanese yakuza (a collection of criminal organisations).

It is set to start shooting in Japan next year.

Dark Knight Rises star Tom has recently been racking up the film roles - he is due to appear in the new Mad Max film Fury Road, drama thriller Locke and crime flick Animal Rescue.

There have also been reports that he might portray Sir Elton John in the upcoming biopic Rocketman.
