Harewood set for Robeson role?

David Harewood is being lined up to play Paul Robeson

David Harewood looks set to play US singer and activist Paul Robeson on the big screen.

The Homeland actor is currently in talks about portraying the late star in indie biopic Robeson, reported Variety.

Louis Gossett Jr is also attached to star in the film, which is due to start shooting next year.

Born in 1898, Robeson was a singer, actor and orator from the 1920s to the 1950s and also gained a lot of attention for his political activism, which included work with the Civil Rights Movement. He died in 1976.

British star David can currently be seen playing David Estes, the director of the CIA's Counter-terrorism Centre, in award-winning series Homeland.
