Harrelson, Tucci join Hunger Games

Woody Harrelson is set for a role in The Hunger Games

Woody Harrelson and Stanley Tucci have joined The Hunger Games.

Woody has landed the coveted role of Katniss Everdeen's mentor Haymitch Abernathy in the upcoming big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins' best-selling sci-fi novel, said The Hollywood Reporter.

Stanley has been cast as Hunger Games' flamboyant and smooth-talking host Caesar Flickerman, who, in the book, has dyed powder blue hair, lips and eyelids, as he wears a blue suit peppered with blinking lights.

Jennifer Lawrence is to star in the film as Katniss, alongside Josh Hutcherson as her childhood friend Peeta, Elizabeth Banks as Katniss' handler Effie and Liam Hemsworth as Katniss' friend Gale.

Hunger Games, directed by Gary Ross, is scheduled to go into production this month, for release in March 2012.
