Anne Hathaway requested vegan-friendly footwear for her Les Miserables role, one of the film's costume designers has revealed.
The Oscar-nominated actress, who is vegan, made sure that her character Fantine's shoes were also cruelty-free, according to Paco Delgado.
"She's vegan, so we couldn't use any animal materials on the shoes for her character Fantine," he told Women's Wear Daily.
"We had to find very specific shoemakers to create lace-up boots and ankle boots. We also did flats that were much more sophisticated."
Anne - who has received a Golden Globe nod for her performance in Tom Hooper's musical remake - has been stepping out in stylish vegan-friendly footwear recently.
She wore fake leather knee-high gladiator sandals designed by Tom Ford at the film's New York premiere, and wore Casadei's red satin platforms for her appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
Paco also revealed that Hugh Jackman, who plays Jean Valjean, wore clogs on set.
"Hugh Jackman had a combat leather boot look and very rough espadrilles. He also wanted to wear wooden clogs. It was very difficult to walk in them, but he figured out how to do it," he added.
