Hawes' son embarrassed to see film

Keeley Hawes said her son doesn't think of her as cool

Keeley Hawes has said her son is embarrassed to watch her in her upcoming film.

The Ashes To Ashes star plays the lead character's mum in Mariah Mundi And The Midas Box, out later this year.

But despite the film being more suited to her kids' age group than her other roles, she said her son is cringing at the thought of going to see it.

Keeley, 37, said: "I said to my son, 'I've done something that you can go and see, we could take your friends to the cinema' and he went 'aaaargh'.

"I'm sure he'll love it when he sees it but I'm his mum, I'm not cool."

The film is about a boy whose parents disappear and when his brother is kidnapped, he teams up with a strange adventurer (played by Michael Sheen) to find him.

Keeley's on-screen husband is played by Ioan Gruffudd.

Mariah Mundi is based on a trilogy of books that are aimed at the same audience as Harry Potter and include lots of magical adventures.

Mum-of-three Keeley said: "There are lots of brilliant special effects and it's a fantastical adventure."

Keeley is also promoting a digital guide to child safety on the internet with Childnet International, available at www.childnet.com/downloading.
