Helen Mirren's 'geriatric' fight

Dame Helen Mirren has joked about having a "geriatric" fight scene in her new movie The Debt.

The actress hit the red carpet at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote her new action thriller, a remake of a 2007 Israeli film of the same name.

"We call it the geriatric fight, it's a fight between two very old people and so incorporated into the fight was the sense that they are old people fighting," she laughed.

"It's not like these old people suddenly become incredibly fit and active and fantastic," the actress revealed. "You know, we're old and we can't get up properly!"

The film tells the story of three young Mossad agents on a secret mission to capture and kill a notorious Nazi war criminal in 1965.

Thirty years later, a man claiming to be the Nazi surfaces in the Ukraine, and one of the former agents - played by Helen - must go back undercover to find out the truth

The 65-year-old insisted she didn't need a double for any of the action.

"We had a really wonderful fight director and he created a great fight for us. There were no stunt people involved and yes, it was all of us," she said.
