Hemsworths rescued from catamaran

Chris Hemsworth and his family have been rescued by coastguards from a catamaran that ran aground, while in the Canary Islands filming a movie about a sinking ship.

The Thor star, his pregnant wife Elsa Pataky and their 18-month-old daughter India Rose were stranded on the tourist boat off the coast of Spanish island La Gomera, according to the Daily Mail.

Elsa, who is three months pregnant, Chris and their baby were among eight passengers on the catamaran who had to be taken to shore by a rescue boat.

The drama happened aboard the vessel that had been privately hired by the film company Chris is currently shooting with in the area and was on the way to Playa de Santiago, off the north west coast of Africa.

It ran into trouble at around 8pm on Sunday evening close to San Sebastian in Spain.

Chris, 30, has been filming In The Heart Of The Sea in the Canary Islands, about a sinking whaling ship in 1820.

He stars alongside Cillian Murphy, Ben Whishaw, Tom Holland and Brendan Gleeson and the film is due out in 2015.
