Julianne Hough has revealed that she would like to show off her comedic chops.

The professional ballroom dancer, country music singer and actress has already shown off her talents in musical films Rock Of Ages, Burlesque and Footloose, as well as her romantic side in Safe Haven.

"I want to be as versatile as possible, I want to do a comedy," she said.

But the 24-year-old admitted she wants to show different sides to her like fellow actresses Jennifer Lawrence and Meryl Streep.

"There is so much more to me, I'd just love to have the shot and the opportunity to do that or to even discover things in my own self that I don't realise I have because I haven't had the opportunity," she continued.

"Jennifer Lawrence is like super hot right now and is a super example of doing credible indies and then a big box office thing like Hunger Games. There's so much range and that's what I aspire to be. Meryl Streep has played many different characters and it's not about how dark you can go or how funny you can be, it's just different and versatile."

Julianne, who is dating US presenter Ryan Seacrest, is looking for more films in the future.

"I'm reading scripts right now and auditioning for things. They're all very, very different projects. I really want to make smart choices and do things that will challenge me," she said.

:: Safe Haven is in cinemas now.
