Julianne Hough is to star opposite Josh Duhamel in romantic drama Safe Haven.
The Rock Of Ages beauty has been cast as the lead in Lasse Hallstrom's big-screen adaptation of the novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks, who wrote The Notebook and Dear John.
Julianne will play a young woman with a dark past who arrives in a small North Carolina town and begins to learn to trust again as she falls for Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children, to be played by the Transformers hunk.
Nicholas said: "I'm thrilled that Josh and Julianne have agreed to come aboard Safe Haven - it's hard to think of an actor better suited to play the character of Alex than Josh, and Julianne will bring a combination of vulnerability and strength to the role of Katie. They are both such talented and charismatic individuals - and best of all, they have tremendous personal chemistry, which is essential for this film."
Keira Knightley had previously been in talks for the leading role.
Filming is due to begin in Southport, North Carolina next month and the movie is due for release in February 2013.
