Hoult travels toward Dark Places

Nicholas Hoult is headed for crime thriller Dark Places.

The Jack The Giant Slayer actor has reportedly joined the cast of the big-screen adaptation of Gillian Flynn's novel, reported Deadline.

Charlize Theron is already on board in Gilles Paquet-Brenner's film, while Chloe Grace Moretz is in talks.

South African star Charlize is set to play Libby Day, the sole survivor of a brutal massacre of her family who is forced to relive the events 25 years later.

Dark Places would mark a reunion for Charlize and Nicholas, who will star together in Mad Max: Fury Road.

The former Skins star will also reprise his role as Hank 'Beast' McCoy in Bryan Singer's X-Men sequel, Days Of Future Past
