Hounsou swings into Tarzan film

Djimon Housou is to star in a new Tarzan film.

The Oscar-nominated actor has been cast in the role of Chief Mbonga in Warner Bros' live-action version of the action adventure, reported Deadline.

Alexander Skarsgard is set to play Tarzan, with Margot Robbie as his love interest Jane. Samuel L Jackson and Christoph Waltz will also appear in the film, which will be directed by Harry Potter filmmaker David Yates.

The film follows Edgar Rice Burroughs' hero after he has left the jungle and settled in London, only to be called back into action to investigate dodgy dealings around a mine by Queen Victoria.

Beninese-American actor Djimon, who received Oscar nods for his performances in Blood Diamond and In America, has a voice role in How To Train Your Dragon 2.

The 50-year-old will also be seen in Guardians Of The Galaxy and Fast And Furious 7.
