Hudgens embraced difficult scenes

Vanessa Hudgens enjoyed the challenge of her new film The Frozen Ground

Vanessa Hudgens has revealed she embraced the rape scene in new film The Frozen Ground as an exciting challenge.

The 24-year-old former Disney star plays a drug-addicted prostitute in the film, who manages to escape serial killer Robert Hansen, played by John Cusack. Nicolas Cage plays the only cop prepared to take her story seriously in the true story about the killings, and together the pair go on a hunt for Hansen.

Vanessa said: "The rape scene - in the movie there's only a couple of seconds, but when we filmed it Scott [Walker] my director told us to go as long as we're comfortable for.

"And he did not call cut for a very long time. And even though it would seem like you wouldn't want to put yourself in a situation like that... When you're basically an adult playing pretend, with another adult person who really knows how to play pretend, it's exciting."

She added: "But it was just scary looking around and seeing this room that we created down to a tee. So the fear that I felt, the images that I saw were very real and similar to the girls that were held hostage."

The actress also performs a raunchy pole dance in the film.

She confessed: "I was completely nervous and my heart was beating out of my chest when I was doing it, but it's a crucial part of the story. My character's a survivor and that's what she did to survive."
