Playing Blackbeard in the new Peter Pan film was "just awesome", according to actor Hugh Jackman.

The 46-year-old, who yesterday joined co-stars Rooney Mara and Cara Delevingne for the film's premiere in London's Leicester Square, plays the pirate in Pan, which reveals the beginnings of the boy who never grew up.

Australian Jackman said: "The movie was so much fun. It was like nothing I had done before. We had the biggest set that's ever been built. You are playing a pirate and you are in Neverland. What's not to like? It was just awesome."

Also at the premiere was actor Levi Miller (12), who beat thousands of hopefuls to land the role of Peter Pan - his first major part.

The youngster admitted to having a thing for co-star Mara, saying: "I have got to admit, I had a bit of a crush. She is a brilliant actress."
