I wasn’t in hospital for alcohol poisoning, insists Hasselhoff

Television legend David Hasselhoff has dismissed reports that he was hospitalised with suspected alcohol poisoning over the weekend.

According to US media reports, the Baywatch star was rushed to hospital close to death with alcohol poisoning after his daughter found him unconscious on the floor of his Californian home.

Hayley Hasselhoff (16) is reported to have found her dad passed out and barely breathing on Saturday night and immediately rang her mum, the actor’s estranged wife Pamela Bach.

She is said to have raced to the scene from her nearby home in the Hollywood Hills and then drove Hasselhof to LA’s Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

According to US website RadarOnline.com, the America’s Got Talent judge had an alcohol level of 0.39 when the legal limit for drinking is 0.08.

A source told the website: “He’s recovering. Pam was at his bedside till 4am this morning. This is about the seventh time he’s been taken to a hospital over the last few years with alcohol poisoning.

“How many visits will it take before he dies?”

Hasselhoff has had well documented problems with drink in the past but has been recovering well in recent months.

His spokesman yesterday insisted that he is “fine and well and happy”, saying: “He is celebrating his father Joe Hasselhoff's 80th birthday tonight at dinner... along with his girlfriend Kimberly.”

Speaking to TMZ, a lawyer for the former Knight Rider star blamed his ex-wife Pamela Bach of leaking the story “in violation of the court's order precluding contacting the media regarding her ex-husband”.
