I'll quit if twins John and Edward oust Stacey, says X Factor Dannii
Saturday, 14 November 2009
X Factor judge Dannii Minogue has threatened to leave the show if Irish twins John and Edward knock out her last remaining act, Stacey Solomon, from the competition.
The Aussie singer was furious after last week's results drama, which saw the boys being chosen over Welsh singer Lucie Jones by Simon Cowell.
After she lashed out publicly backstage, Dannii was said to have read Simon the riot act for axing talented teenager Lucie over the controversial duo.
A set insider revealed: "Dannii is fuming and just disillusioned at the whole show.
"She thinks the Grimes are nice kids, but that they don't deserve to take a place in the remaining acts on the show.
"She was devastated to lose Lucie last week, and she couldn't take it if remaining act Stacey also got the boot and the Grimes stayed in.
"She has told people on the show that she couldn't see the point in staying if all the 'talented singers' were shown the door."
Dannii confessed she blamed herself for Sunday's outcome.
"I was angry with myself because I hadn't done the job well enough. That performance and the one before -- I felt she'd really arrived, but it was too late," she said.
The twins will find themselves Under Pressure tomorrow night as they sing for survival in the competition with a last-minute song change for the show's Queen-themed weekend.
The Lucan natives have ditched their initial song, Radio Gaga for the 1984 hit Under Pressure, made famous by the iconic band in a duet with David Bowie.
However, they won't be attempting any of Freddie Mercury's trademark vocal acrobatics but will instead be including their own rap segment in the song.
A set insider revealed: "It's a bigger song and they will be rapping in the middle of it so it will suit them better. We also thought it was a particularly appropriate title for the twins."
The Queen theme will be continue on Sunday night's results show, as the remaining contestants will be performing the legendary hit Bohemian Rhapsody together. Two members of Queen have also been rumoured to be jetting in as mentors for the remaining hopefuls, with a performance of their own up their sleeves.
Guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor have reportedly been lined up to perform on Sunday and have also been secretly mentoring the contestants.
The twins plan on proving their critics wrong and show they deserve a coveted place on stage in spite of being in the bottom two last week.
But while they may be one of the most talked about contestants this year, their own mentor Louis Walsh has suggested that they don't have what it takes to win.
"Honestly, I don't think they can win. I think there is a possibility of getting to the final.," he said.
"They got a really hard time from people in Ireland, from people who have never met them and didn't know them.
"I had it before with Boyzone and different bands before. People slag you off . . . it's a weird thing, it's an Irish thing."

I think Dannii Minogue obviously didn't train Acts Lucie & Rachel well enough because John & Edward beat the both of them. If John & Edward knock Stacey out, then Dannii's needs to work on her training skills. If she quit, I'd be happy. She only wants Stacey to stay in because she wants to beat Cheryl (her rival) However Cheryl is a much better coach and a much nicer person. Stacey has an amazing voice, but is very annoying generally. John & Edward deserve to win this compettiton, because of all the stick they've had, they need to prove everyone wrong.. JEDWARD ALL THE WAY.

Dannii do us all a favour and just go. The public are the ones paying their good hard cash to keep their favourite act in so just get over it. I think Danni brings nothing to the show anyhow. She has absolutly no personality.

For a singer like Lucie to go, simply because Mr Money saw a chance to further line his pockets, was a disgrace, you should hang your head in shame .

Well, I would rather see the irish twin than Danii, she can leave anytime! for her information, this is the 21st century where the term entertainer doesnt come under one wing! I honestly cant remember any of hers? what is she, singer actress? sorry cant remember, your sister kylie on the other hand, is a good entertainer but not a great singer. can you tell the difference?

Go ahead and quit Ms Minogue but please do not try and tell the public who they can and cannot vote for. I will be voting for Jedward because I cannot warm to Stacey at all. John and Edward are legitimate contestants and have every right to a place in the finals as the others.

yes I agree with Dannii's choice to leave the show, she was put there to judge for the best tallent and not for who gets the most funs.I will stop watching if stacey goes before the twins.Simon needs some seriouse soul search he cant make fool of us any more,if this is what he calls show biz he's in the wrong country or may be wrong TV station.

I don't blame Dannii, I would be really disillusioned if it was me. Lucy should have been in the last three along with Joe and Olly
