Irish eyes smile at Emmys
Friday, 17 July 2009
A cast of Irish nominees will be hoping to turn the red carpet green at this year’s Emmy Awards. Top actors Brendan Gleeson, Kenneth Branagh and Gabriel Byrne are among a host of nominees who have been shortlisted for the prestigious award ceremony.
The Irish Film Board may be facing the chop after Thursday’s An Bord Snip Nua report but the industry was still celebrating last night.
Irish directors, actors and crews will see their names up in lights across Hollywood in September for the Primetime Emmy Awards.
Popular TV3 drama The Tudors will be in with several chances of taking home a gong. The show, which stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers, has received five nominations.
It is the third consecutive year that the show will be vying for top honours from the Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences.
The Emmys will take place on Sunday, September 20.
