Jaden: Dad won't let me be in MIB

Jaden Smith says his famous dad doesn't want him appearing in the Men In Black films

Jaden Smith has revealed that his dad Will has put the brakes on him appearing in the Men In Black films.

The 14-year-old, who reunites with his famous father on screen in M Night Shyamalan's sci-fi epic After Earth, admitted he has dropped some hints about being a MIB officer.

"I have indeed, and he says, 'No'. He handled it pretty quickly. He didn't want to give me any false hopes," he told Collider.

"I keep telling him that I have something to bring to the Men In Black Academy. I have too much knowledge up in here. I keep telling him I'm ready, whenever he's ready and whenever he thinks I'm ready. He says I'm not ready."

Will and Tommy Lee Jones star as agent J and K respectively in all three Men In Black films, directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.

Jaden - who previously starred with Will in The Pursuit Of Happyness in 2006, and had a cameo in Men In Black II - was last seen in 2010's The Karate Kid alongside Jackie Chan.

"I did take a bit of a break, almost three years. My dad is very particular on the movies that I'm in, he wants them to be very strong. He develops them, but he also develops other movies so it takes him time," he explained.

"It also gave me time to work on my music. My next movie will not be in the next three years though. I don't know what I'm doing next, but I'm going to be working on my music and talk to my dad about Men In Black 4."
