James gets Stranded for new comedy

Kevin James could star in new comedy-adventure Stranded.

The family film, which has been conceived from an idea by Kevin and Todd Garner, is said by The Hollywood Reporter to have been inspired by the novel The Swiss Family Robinson, although details of the storyline are being kept under wraps.

Tripper Clancy will write the script for the movie, which has been acquired by Sony, reported Deadline.

Johann David Wyss' novel The Swiss Family Robinson, first published in 1812, followed a Swiss family who end up shipwrecked on a deserted island while they try to travel to Australia.

Kevin, last seen in comedies Here Comes The Boom and Grown Ups 2, will next reprise his role as Paul Blart in Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 and animated movie Pixels alongside long-time collaborator Adam Sandler.
