Jamie Foxx to head to Annie remake?

Jamie Foxx is in talks to play the millionaire in the new version of Annie

Jamie Foxx is in negotiations to join the Annie remake, according to reports.

The Django Unchained star is said to be "in early talks" to star in the new big screen version of the musical, said The Hollywood Reporter's Heat Vision blog.

The 45-year-old is tipped to play wealthy benefactor Benjamin Stacks, a variation of the Daddy Warbucks character who adopts the orphan - who will be portrayed by Beasts Of The Southern Wild Oscar-nominee Quvenzhane Wallis.

Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith will produce the film in a joint venture with Jay-Z through their Overbrook Entertainment arm, while Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the film.

Production on Annie is expected to begin in the autumn, in time for a 2014 release.

Jamie has been busy shooting The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and is developing a horror series for SyFy. He will also be seen in the action flick White House Down alongside Channing Tatum.
