Jane Fonda has taken a swipe at critics of her Nancy Reagan role, saying they should "get a life".
Her comment to The Hollywood Reporter come following criticism from some Conservative bloggers in the US about the casting of the veteran actress and liberal activist as former US President Ronald Reagan's wife in new movie The Butler.
"Get a life," the star, known as Hanoi Jane, said.
She added that she wasn't bothered by the criticism and that the "hoopla... will cause more people to see the movie."
The Lee Daniels drama tells the story of Eugene Allen, the long-serving head butler at the White House.
John Cusack plays Richard Nixon, Robin Williams is Dwight Eisenhower, and James Marsden is John F Kennedy in the film, due out later this year.
