Flame-haired Janet Devlin is all fired up and looking forward to tackling her first live X Factor show, her mum Patricia said last night.

The Tyrone teenager has been in rehearsals all week and is believed to be singing a Coldplay song tonight in keeping with the UK v US theme.

And according to Patricia, Janet — the bookies' favourite to win —is aware that no-one is safe, as a shock new twist revealed that one act from each category will go home this weekend.

Patricia, who will be at the London studios with Janet's brother Jason to cheer her on, said: “I've been talking to her ahead of the live show and she seems grand. She's taking it in her stride but is determined to go out there and give it her best.

“She knows she is in a very privileged position, but she is also aware that someone in her category is set to go home and that no-one in safe. The girls, in particular, are very strong, so it could be anyone of them really. But she can't wait to get out there and perform.”

Patricia said she was delighted with the support Janet was receiving and that the residents of Gortin were |throwing their weight behind her.

“They're showing the programme on a widescreen in the community centre in Gortin, so everyone will be heading there to watch it,” she said.

Janet was pictured at the X Factor studios earlier this week dressed in a Jimi Hendrix T-shirt and her favourite white Converse boots.

She looked relaxed and confident as she posed with over-25 |category contestant Johnny Robinson, who is understood to have taken the teenager under his wing.

“Janet will get on well with everyone in the house, but she seems close to Johnny Robinson, who has been looking after her,” said Patricia.

The X Factor live show will kick off tonight at 7.30pm and then tomorrow at 8pm, when the four acts who will be leaving the competition will be revealed.
