Jared joins Sherlock Holmes cast?

Jared Harris will reportedly play Moriarty in the second Sherlock Holmes film

Jared Harris has apparently signed on to play Professor Moriarty in Sherlock Holmes 2.

The Mad Men actor, who plays English advertising partner Lane Pryce, will take the role of the detective's arch-nemesis in Guy Ritchie's eagerly anticipated sequel, reports Latino Review.

Both Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law will reprise their roles as Sherlock and his sidekick Doctor Watson respectively, and will be joined by Noomi Rapace as the unknown female lead and Stephen Fry as Sherlock's brother, Mycroft Holmes.

A number of big names had been rumoured for the part of Moriarty, including Brad Pitt and Daniel Day Lewis.

Jared - the son of acclaimed actor Richard Harris - has appeared as a recurring character in Fringe and on the big screen in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button and Igby Goes Down.
