Jim Sturgess has admitted he looks "ridiculous" in some of the clothes he has to wear in One Day.
The Across The Universe star had to wear some outrageous 90s-style costumes - including an all-leather get-up and a fancy suit - to play late-night TV presenter Dexter Mayhew in Lone Scherfig's big-screen adaptation of David Nicholls' novel.
"You try and have as much fun with it. I was aware of how ridiculous I looked," he said.
"I remember being dressed up in a pair of leather trousers and an open leather shirt, with my hair all bouffant, and I thought, 'I bet this is the character I get remembered for'. I looked ridiculous - I had this huge velvet coat on - but I guess you just have to dive in and go for it. He was an outrageous TV presenter in the 90s so that was all part of it, I guess."
But he has fond memories of a garish blue suit.
"My favourite outfit was probably the horrible blue suit I wore as a TV presenter with the giant shoulder pads with the velvet crushed waistcoat," he admitted.
"I'll only wear that once. It's a classic. I pray and hope that will never come back into fashion."
