John: Concert film is glam and OTT
Sir Elton John has revealed that his new concert film is more lavish production than The Red Piano.
The Rocket Man star features in The Million Dollar Piano, which focuses on his 90-show residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which began in September 2011.
"This is a step further from The Red Piano. This takes it in to a whole new ball park," he said.
The 66-year-old musician joked that the production cost more than the title indicates, saying: "It certainly gave us the title for the new show, The Million Dollar Piano, even though it cost a little more than that."
He added: "I gave them (producers) a brief and said to them, 'It's got to be glamorous, it's Vegas'."
Elton's latest residency, which continues up to April, follows on from The Red Piano, a five-year residency at the same venue. In the new shows, he performs hits such as Tiny Dancer, Your Song, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me and I'm Still Standing.
"It has to be a little over the top. It overwhelms you, it draws you in," he said.
:: The Million Dollar Piano will be shown in cinemas on March 22 for one day only. Tickets are available from www.cinemalive.com.
