Johnny Depp on cue for a joke with the journos
Actor Johnny Depp stole the show - and a journalist's microphone - as he talked about his latest film, Black Mass, at its London premiere.
Depp, 52, drew huge crowds as he took to the red carpet in Leicester Square, where hundreds of people lined up to catch a glimpse of him and fellow heart-throb Benedict Cumberbatch.
But as he chatted away about the film he took a fluffy microphone from one unassuming reporter and draped it around his neck, saying: "I can't control myself."
Dressed all in black and laden with jewellery, the Hollywood star joked around with journalists, smirking as he stroked the microphone and asking questions about their equipment before being ushered on by a member of staff.
Chastened, Depp said: "Sorry, I was just messing around."
Black Mass, which premiered as part of the BFI London Film Festival, tells the story of Boston mobster and FBI informant James "Whitey" Bulger - played by Depp - and his law-abiding brother, William "Billy" Bulger, portrayed by Cumberbatch.
