Johnson joins cast of Ciudad film
Dwayne Johnson is apparently set to star in new action thriller Ciudad.
The wrestler-turned-actor, whose nickname is The Rock, will play a powerful fighter who is hired by a Brazilian drug lord to rescue his kidnapped daughter, reported Collider.com.
You, Me And Dupree filmmaking brothers Joe and Anthony Russo are directing Ciudad, and co-writing the upcoming graphic novel with Ande Parks, which the film will be based on.
"Exploring genre has always been a driving motivation for us as filmmakers. This movie is the culmination of a long-time ambition to bring our sensibilities to an action thriller," the siblings said in a statement.
The role marks a return to hard-hitting action parts for Dwayne, who currently stars in Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and the forthcoming GI Joe: Retaliation.
The actor - who is also set to star in Michael Bay's Pain And Gain and Fast Six - will also be taking on the title role in Brett Ratner's iteration of Hercules.
