Jolie backing Impossible for gong

Angelina Jolie has revealed she and Brad Pitt were both moved to tears watching new tsunami film The Impossible.

The Hollywood beauty is among a host of celebs backing the awards campaign for the film, which stars Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor and is the true story of Maria Belon and her family, who were holidaying in Thailand in 2004 when the Indian Ocean tsunami struck.

Angelina told The Daily Mail that the film had made her and Brad cry.

The Oscar-winning actress hosted two special screenings of the film - directed by Spanish filmmaker Juan Antonio Bayona, who made critically acclaimed horror movie The Orphanage - along with British director Stephen Daldry, to help boost attention for the flick during awards season.

The film also stars Tom Holland, who plays the Belon family's eldest son Lucas. He worked with Stephen when he starred in Billy Elliott the musical on stage in London.

Naomi, who plays mother Maria, recently admitted making the film had been the most "physically demanding thing I have ever done".
