Nick Jonas is to make his big-screen return in thriller Careful What You Wish For.
The singer-actor, who has been focusing on music in recent years, is to star with Australian actress Isabel Lucas in the gripping drama, said to be in a similar vein to Basic Instinct and Body Heat, reported Variety.
"Excited to announce that I'm joining cast of the movie, Careful What You Wish For," he tweeted.
It would be the 20-year-old's first mature role, following his previous appearances in Disney's Camp Rock films, and could be seen as an attempt to shake off his good-guy image.
Nick - who makes up the Jonas Brothers alongside elder brothers Joe and Kevin - is tipped to play a student who gets more than he bargained for when he starts having an affair with a married neighbour (played by Isabel). When her husband is found dead under suspicious circumstances, both of them become prime suspects.
Elizabeth Allen, whose previous credits include the new 90210 and family-oriented films Ramona And Beezus and Aquamarine, is signed on to direct.
Nick, who previously dated Miley Cyrus and Delta Goodrem, has been busy making music with his siblings and on Broadway, where he stepped into Daniel Radcliffe's shoes to star in the musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying from January to May 2012.
He is also seen on the small screen in reality TV documentary Married To Jonas, which follows his eldest brother Kevin's marriage to Danielle Deleasa.
