Julia Roberts and Meryl Streep are in talks to star in the film adaptation of Broadway play August: Osage County.
The actresses have reportedly agreed to the project and are now working out deals and organising schedules, Deadline said.
Meryl would play Violet, a drug-addicted matriarch of the working-class Weston family, while Julia would be Barbara Fordham, the eldest daughter in the family who discovers her husband is cheating on her.
The troubled family have to rally around one another when Violet's husband goes missing.
The film, based on the Pulitzer and Tony-winning play by Tracy Letts, will be directed by John Wells, with production set to start in summer 2011.
