Julia Roberts' patience with Fireflies In The Garden finally paid off, as the long-awaited film enjoyed its premiere in the US.
Stars of the drama including Hayden Panettiere and Carrie-Anne Moss were reunited at the Pacific Theatre in The Grove, Hollywood, after a four-year wait.
"A moment like this takes patience and effort. I'm happy to be here. Making a small film is harder than it used to be," the 43-year-old actress, looking glam in a black dress and matching satin blazer, told Entertainment Tonight.
Hayden - wearing a delicately off-the-shoulder gown - admitted it was "wild" to be reunited with the cast after so long.
"We went to the Berlin Film festival [in 2008] with it and walked the red carpet there, and the fact that we're here now celebrating its opening is really cool. It's a walk through the past," added the 22-year-old.
The film was shot in 2007, and while it was released internationally, its intended 2008 release in its home country was put on hold after a production company closed.
Told in flashbacks, Fireflies In The Garden follows Ryan Reynolds - who wasn't at the premiere - as a young novelist who returns to his hometown for a family reunion 17 years after his mother (played by Julia) was killed in a tragic accident.
