Katie Holmes joins Woman In Gold

Katie Holmes is joining Dame Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds in drama Woman In Gold.

The film is based on the true story of Jewish woman Maria Altmann who, years after fleeing Austria in World War II, embarks on a legal battle to try and retrieve her family possessions stolen by the Nazis, including Klimt's famous painting The Lady In Gold.

The cast also includes Charles Dance, Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern, Rush's Daniel Bruhl, Max Irons and Jonathan Pryce.

Woman In Gold is being directed by Elizabeth McGovern's husband Simon Curtis, and will see him reteam with The Weinstein Company and BBC Films, who he worked with on My Week With Marilyn.

Filming has begun and will take place on location in the UK, Austria and the US.

Ryan said recently he was looking forward to working with Helen Mirren, adding: "In a word - hot!"

Katie last appeared in comedy Jack And Jill, for which she won a Golden Raspberry award for worst screen couple with Adam Sandler in 2012.
