Keanu Reeves is being eyed as the lead in Gabriele Muccino's next film.
The Italian director revealed that he is keen to cast the Matrix star in the lead role, as he is looking to do a thriller or sci-fi movie, at the Venice Film Festival, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The filmmaker, best known for his collaborations with Will Smith in The Pursuit Of Happyness and Seven Pounds, didn't go into further detail about the upcoming project, although he spoke about his new sports drama Playing For Keeps, starring Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Uma Thurman.
Keanu - last seen in 2010 comedy caper Henry's Crime - has been busy with his directorial debut, Man Of Tai Chi, and 47 Ronin. The 48-year-old has also revealed that work on the third Bill And Ted film is under way.
