Kelly Preston should find it easy preparing for her next film role - as she will play the on-screen wife to real-life husband John Travolta.

The Last Song actress, who also portrayed her husband's screen partner in Battlefield Earth, is set to play Victoria Gotti in Gotti: Three Generations, as John takes on the lead role of crime boss John Gotti Sr.

The film's producer Marc Fiore from Fiore Films said in a statement: "The love and passion between John and Kelly... will bring a huge benefit to John Sr and his wife, and to tell you the truth, they have a lot in common.

"They both lost a child at a young age and they understand what the Gottis went through when the Gottis lost their child."

Steve Honig, a spokesman for the production company added: "She's a terrific actress, and she can really do the role justice."

The couple's real-life 11-year-old daughter Ella Bleu will play their on-screen daughter, Angel Gotti.

And troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan will appear in the film as Kim Gotti, the wife of John Gotti Jr.

Production on the movie, to be directed by Rain Man's Barry Levinson, is expected to begin in New York in the autumn, with a release set for late 2012.
