Elizabeth Banks has revealed Anna Kendrick clinched her starring role in Pitch Perfect with her "Cups song".
Elizabeth, who is a producer on the film and has a cameo role, revealed: "It was never in the script. Anna came in and auditioned with that Cups song and we thought it was such a magical moment for her, and it was so specific to Anna Kendrick, that we thought, 'We need to put that in the movie, because that will be her magical moment.' It is incredible."
The Hunger Games star revealed it was really important to her that the film, which also stars Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow, was an all-female project.
Elizabeth said: "We were very intent on hiring a female to write this. We only looked at female comedy writers because we were telling the story of a group of girls, and we just believed a woman would capture the nuance of that the way that a guy would not."
:: Pitch Perfect is out on DVD and Blu-ray on April 15.
