Anna Kendrick is getting in tune for musical romance The Last Five Years.
The Twilight star will play struggling actress Cathy in the movie adaptation of Robert Brown's acclaimed play of the same name, the story of a young married couple told backwards, beginning at the break-up of their marriage and ending with how they met.
The relationship between Cathy and her novelist husband Jamie is told in reverse through comedic songs, including Still Hurting, See I'm Smiling and I Can Do Better Than That, film blog moviehole.net reported.
In the stage production Cathy and Jamie's stories are told separately, only overlapping at their wedding.
The Last Five Years will be directed by PS, I Love You's Richard LaGravenese, who also adapted the play for the big screen.
The role of Jamie is yet to be cast.
