Kevin Bacon is rumoured to be in talks to appear in RIPD.
Following his villainous role as Sebastian Shaw in X-Men: First Class, the Golden Globe-winning actor is said to be considering playing another baddie in the big-screen adaptation of the supernatural graphic novel, reported Variety.
If all works well, Kevin would get to square off against Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, who have been cast as deceased detectives belonging to the Rest In Peace Department who join forces to avenge the death of a cop on duty.
Robert Schwentke, who previously directed Red, is set to be helming the action adventure, which Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi are writing.
The film is scheduled to start shooting in Boston from September.
Kevin - who next appears in Crazy Stupid Love alongside Julianne Moore, Ryan Gosling and Steve Carell - is currently filming Billy Bob Thornton's directorial return, Jayne Mansfield's Car.
