Kiefer Sutherland has confirmed he will start shooting the long awaited 24 movie later this year.
Speaking during a panel discussion for his new series, Touch, the actor revealed he will step back into Jack Bauer's shoes in late April/early May, reports Access Hollywood.
The big screen version of the award-winning hit TV series - which ran for eight seasons, concluding in 2010 - has been in the pipeline for some time.
According to CraveOnline.com, when asked if the plot would conclude Bauer's story, the star said it would be more of a "continuation", starting a few months after the final series ended.
"I think the script that we've got right now which I'm very, very excited about is relatively a direct continuation," he said. "We're talking within six months from the end of that episode and we'll see where it goes from there."
But before he gets back to fighting terrorism, Kiefer will star as a single dad to an emotionally challenged son in Touch.
The 45-year-old said he hadn't been planning to return to TV so soon, but that he couldn't turn down the role because it "spoke to me on a really profound level".
