Kristen Wiig fancies dramatic roles

Kristen Wiig has said that despite her success in comedy she's always wanted to take on more dramatic roles.

The Saturday Night Live star and Bridesmaids co-writer and actress said that her true passion is being funny.

Kristen, 40, told Elle that it was " not necessarily a bad thing" to be ensconced in the world of comedy.

"But," she added, "I've always wanted to do dramatic stuff, to write and direct, do a lot of different things."

Kristen, who is enjoying a more dramatic role in forthcoming film The Skeleton Twins, said: "Comedy is where my heart lies, but there's also something really satisfying about being able to step away with a small crew, become a character and get to know her for a few months at a time."

In her new film, Welcome To Me, Kirsten plays a woman with a borderline personality disorder who wins the lottery, stops taking her medication and starts a TV talk show.

" I'd never read a character like that," she told the August issue of the mag. "I got to a scene where it read, 'She's fully naked,' and I remember thinking, 'If I do this movie, I have to do this scene, because it's really important to this script'."
