Diane Kruger is to replace Eva Green as Marie Antoinette in new period drama Farewell, My Queen.
French director Benoit Jacquot is adapting Chantal Thomas' novel for the big screen and Playlist.com reports that Inglourious Basterds star Diane has been cast in the lead role of the French queen, which had previously been linked to Bond girl Eva.
Lea Seydoux, who appeared in Inglourious Basterds and starred in the acclaimed Lourdes last year will play a reader to her royal majesty during the final days of the French Revolution, and Gerard Depardieu has also been cast in the movie.
Filming is due to begin in the spring.
Meanwhile, it seems Eva has lost out another role, that of the female lead in Michael Mann's Capa, a biopic of war photographer Robert Capa, based on Susana Fortes's novel Waiting For Robert Capa.
Eva was due to play fellow photographer Gerda Taro whose romance with Capa is the focal point of Susana's novel, but the part has now gone to fellow Bond girl Gemma Arterton.
New Spider-Man Andrew Garfield will play Robert and British playwright Jez Butterworth is currently adapting the screenplay.
