Kurt Russell revs up for Fast 7

Kurt Russell is confirmed for Fast And Furious 7, after Vin Diesel posted a photo of him on set.

There had been rumours that the Death Proof star had been in talks to play a villain in the upcoming seventh instalment of the franchise.

Leading man Vin, who will reprise his role as ex-convict Dom Toretto, shared the image of him in character, Kurt and Paul Walker (Brian O'Conner), with the caption: "Kurt Russell, such an honor to work with... P.s. One from set..."

Insiders previously claimed on Twitter that Kurt had nearly signed on for a role.

"Kurt Russell was almost about to join #Fast7. He would play the father of Jesse, and he would be Toretto's villain," the tweet read.

Dwayne Johnson, Christopher 'Ludacris' Bridges, Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Lucas Black are also set to return for the seventh film in the fast cars franchise, which will see director James Wan take the driving seat.

Action star Jason Statham is one of the newcomers to the series, alongside Djimon Hounsou, Ong-Bak's Tony Jaa and professional mixed martial arts fighter Ronda Rousey.

Shooting on Fast And Furious 7 has already begun, and the film is expected to open in cinemas in July 2014.
