An LA Confidential sequel is in the pipeline, but this time it will be a television series.
The hit novel by James Ellroy was turned into a 1997 film starring Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce and Kim Basinger, and now Deadline is reporting that a follow-up is being made for the small screen 16 years later.
Author James has apparently come up with the concept for a sequel as a drama series and it is now being pitched to broadcast and cable networks and "emerging distribution platforms".
It isn't known whether the original stars of the Academy Award-winning movie will appear in the series, which is said to continue the themes and stories from the 1950s-set murder mystery.
LA Confidential, which also featured David Strathairn and Danny De Vito, was critically acclaimed and won a host of accolades, including a best supporting actress Oscar for Kim.
