Jude Law is to play a villain in Lynne Ramsay's Western Jane Got A Gun.
The Sherlock Holmes star has apparently joined the cast, which is led by Natalie Portman, said The Hollywood Reporter.
Michael Fassbender has reportedly changed his mind about starring as the male lead, because the film's production clashes with his schedule on X-Men: Days Of Future Past, so Joel Edgerton will take over his role.
Oscar winner Natalie is already on board to play the titular character, who runs away from her outlaw husband (Jude) and is forced to team up with an ex-boyfriend - Joel's character - to protect her family.
We Need To Talk About Kevin filmmaker Lynne will direct from a script written by Brian Duffield.
Production is expected to begin in April.
Jude, currently starring in Steven Soderbergh's Side Effects, has been filming Dom Hemingway, in which he plays the petty criminal.
