Ledge was Worthington's action rest

Sam Worthington confessed he chose to star in thriller Man On A Ledge to take a rest from action movies.

The star of Avatar, Terminator Salvation and Wrath Of The Titans plays a man trapped on a ledge for the majority of the film, so he didn't have to move around too much.

Sam admitted: "It's got something that is different to other action movies... I get to stay still and act for a bit, not just go around yelling."

The 35-year-old Australian actor also admitted he was "intrigued" by the role because he is scared heights, and the majority of the scenes on the ledge were shot on the real ledge of the Roosevelt Hotel, over 200 feet above 45th Street in New York.

Sam said of preparing for the role: "I don't think you can. I think you just have to get out the window and do it. If you get out of a window at a hotel they're going to tell you to get back in.

"Stunt men can tell you what it's going to be like, but it's like falling in love. Until you do it yourself, it's too hard to imagine.

"It's an interesting idea for a film. People would ask me, 'What's going on up there?' And I think that's exactly what they should be feeling. They shouldn't know what's going on up there, and formulate their own ideas about what's going on with this man. So, that's exactly what the crowd is, another character."

::Man On A Ledge is out now on DVD and Blu-ray.
