Lenny Kravitz to play Marvin Gaye?

Lenny Kravitz is reportedly in the frame to play Marvin Gaye on the big screen

Lenny Kravitz has been lined up to play the lead role in a Marvin Gaye biopic, according to reports.

The movie will be directed by Julian Temple, known for short films on the Sex Pistols and documentaries such as London: The Modern Babylon and Absolute Beginners.

The Evening Standard said that the movie will centre on the last years of the Motown singer's life.

The film will focus on soul legend Marvin's life from 1981, when he was suffering from an addiction to alcohol, and how he was rescued by music promoter Freddy Cousaert and moved to his flat in Ostend, Belgium, to recover.

Marvin died in 1984, when he was shot by his own father.

Rocker-turned-actor Lenny played a stylist in The Hunger Games, but this would be his first lead role.
